STANDWATCH™ · ABOUT

Standing watch, so you keep more of what you earned.

A free, veteran-owned project to help service members, veterans, and military families learn the fine print and stop leaving money on the table.

StandWatch is not a bank, a lender, or a lead-selling machine. It's one veteran sharing what took two decades to learn — so the people who served don't have to learn it the hard way.

VETERAN OWNED · NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY · A SIDE PROJECT, DONE RIGHT
WHY THIS EXISTS

I got tired of watching good people get taken.

Over the years I've done the deep dives, sat through the cold calls, and scoured the internet for the real answer instead of the marketing version. I've bought multiple houses and been through countless refinances. I've helped friends and family compare offers, shop insurance, and walk away from deals that weren't what they looked like.

Every time, the pattern was the same: the information you need to make a good call is out there, but it's buried under fine print, sales pressure, and offers designed to look better than they are. The people who take the time to dig usually save real money. The people who don't usually overpay — not because they did anything wrong, but because nobody handed them the straight version.

StandWatch is my attempt to hand people the straight version. Learn the topic first, know your own numbers, and only then decide. If nothing beats what you already have, the honest answer is to hold — and this site will tell you that, because it isn't trying to make a sale.

WHO BUILT IT

A combat veteran who's spent a career helping people.

My name is Larry Cannon. I have more than twenty years of military and government service. I'm a former active-duty infantryman and I deployed twice.

Since then, my work has been direct-response and prevention support for veterans, service members, and their families — suicide prevention outreach and education, sexual assault awareness and response support, and primary prevention. If you know that world, you know the thread that runs through all of it: help people before the crisis, not after.

StandWatch comes from that same place. It's primary prevention applied to money. I'd rather help someone understand a refinance, an insurance renewal, or a savings rate before it costs them, than watch them get hurt and try to help clean it up later. Helping people avoid the pain in the first place is what I'm best at, and it's what I want to keep doing.

Honestly, this is a side project. I'm not trying to get rich off it — I'm looking ahead to retirement, I want to stay busy, keep a small connection to the community, keep a little income, and keep serving in the way I know how. This is that.

THE STRAIGHT VERSION

What StandWatch is — and isn't.

So there's no confusion, here's exactly what this is:

What it is

What it isn't

If you ever spot something on this site that's wrong or out of date, tell me and I'll fix it. That's the whole promise: honesty with the people who served, even when it means telling you to keep what you've got.
